East Jerusalem Initiative
The Dar Al-Tifel Al-Arabi School aims to educate Palestinians, and, specifically, to care for disadvantaged girls and orphans while preserving Arab culture and Palestinian heritage. The organization encompasses a school that educates students from nursery to 12th grade, a boarding section where students can live and receive food and care, the Dar Al-Tifel Al-Arabi Museum for the Palestinian Heritage and the Dar Isaaf Al-Nashashibi for Culture, Arts and Literature.
The school was established by Hind Husseini in Jerusalem in 1948 to educate the orphans of Deir Yassin Village whose families were executed by Zionists. Funding raised through Palestinian philanthropy supports the repair of the School, which also provides distinguished libraries that house scientific, literal, artistic as well as heritage references and sources to enable interested students, and members of the community at large, to benefit from these sources of knowledge, and participate in different kinds of cultural, literal and artistic activities.
The LEAD IMPACT Team is most appreciative of the efforts Jamal Al Aref and Haitham Shtaieh have made to secure an initial $10,000 USD donation from Palestinian philanthropy, which contributes to the repair of the historic Dar Al-Tifl School.
