NE Syria Initiative 

The Women Empowerment Project in NE Syria was developed in response to the ongoing challenges faced by women in the region, particularly in the aftermath of the Syrian internal conflict, 2011-. The conflict has caused significant displacement and disruption to communities, and women have been among the most affected. Before 2011, the region had low levels of women’s education and participation in decision-making. However, in recent years, there have been efforts to address these issues and promote gender equality. The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria has implemented policies and initiatives to promote women’s rights, including a quota system that ensures women’s representation in local councils and other decision-making bodies.

Despite these advancements, women in NE Syria continue to face challenges, including limited access to education and economic opportunities. The Women Empowerment Project aims to address these challenges by providing education and livelihood opportunities for women in the region. The project also emphasizes environmental sustainability, teaching women how to dispose of waste in a way that does not harm the environment. By providing women with education and economic opportunities, this project aims to promote gender equality and contribute to the overall development and stability of the region. Additionally, the project aims to promote environmental sustainability, an issue that is crucial for the long-term well-being of communities in NE Syria.
