Carla Tarsitano
Carla Tarsitano (she/her) possesses a strong commitment to co-designing, implementing, and operationalizing innovative strategies and data technologies to support large-scale research surveys. With a doctorate in Education from Vanderbilt University focusing on participatory research and learning in systems, and having worked closely with international and national agencies such as the OECD and the U.S. Department of Education on large-scale assessments, Carla has an established track record in leading survey co-design and development efforts for “best fit” solutions. Further, she a certified project manager (PMP) and has broad expertise in program evaluation – conducting feasibility analysis for new business development, assessing multi-stakeholder engagement, benchmarking success, and monitoring compliance with GDPR regulations for data management and survey research.
Carla’s contributions to project proposals have not only secured substantial funding for various educational initiatives but have also been instrumental in developing and supporting capacity-strengthening project plans in emerging economies to ensure equitable participation in large-scale studies. She has served as a key advisor to departmental leadership on team development and learning, utilizing various collaborative tools and management methodologies to drive continuous improvement and professional development initiatives.
Carla is currently focused on advancing research and educational practices that promote a systems approach to understanding the challenges facing global society. She is particularly interested in exploring the intersections of education, health, and resilience through a lens that examines how data-driven insights and inclusive practices can contribute to sustainable development. As a former teacher and professor, Carla is a staunch advocate for the continuous support of educators and students – viewing learning as a way to reconnect, reconcile, and revive. Fascinated by the way people tell their stories, Carla is passionate about designing systems that incorporate individuals’ expertise and lived experiences while providing future generations with a template to navigate and contribute to a rapidly changing world.
